Silly Economic times

I hate reading the economic times and I am very vocal about it. I have lots of reasons for that.

Firstly, ET doesn't take a stand on an issue. It just bullshits people about the news and sticks to the opinions that cater to the general mood. It neither has the conviction to be right nor feels it is the right approach. Just pick the IPL issue. Before the IPL 3 auction started, it raised a cry saying "No seekers for IPL3, Auction may turn out to be damp squib". Once the auction started and the players were auctioned at record prices, the headlines showed "IPL, the big money puller again".

Secondly, it deliberately misleads readers. They have come up with a package called advertorials where they promote specious advertisements by embedding them into mainstream news. One can never point out an article with confidence and say if it is news or an advertisement.

Thirdly, its online version is so irritating to read that you just give up reading. A five para news item is spread over four pages filled with mindless crap and cheap Google ads. Every article has these thoroughly detestable links "Prev|Next" displayed in the worst possible font ever discovered by humanity. When you click next, it takes ages to load and quietly predictably, your four lines of interest appear after all the BS is loaded. Their stock recommendations are a total sham and I often wonder if there is any research done or not.

Imagine something like this happening between ET and a stock research agency.

"ET: Hey! Pay me some big bucks and I have a scheme to improve your visibility.
Agency: Wow! But how can you expect us to share our trade secrets like stock recommendations?

ET: Oh! Don't you worry, I will just pick some blue chip stocks, put buy/sell on them randomly and quote your name. That way, you are not effected, but your visibility increase.
Agency: Wow! what a cracking idea! But will the reader not realize it?

ET: Aha! Good question, In the opposite page, we will quote the same stocks, but provide an opposite view. That way, we can fool and confuse the reader so that he will go to a stock analyst and don't just rely on this cheap advise.
Agency: Mark of genius. Amen! "

Finally and worst of all, you see grammatical and spelling mistakes in editorials and lead articles reflecting rank mediocrity. This is Economics times for you. Alas! my profs insist that this substandard paper be read everyday and go to the extent of quizzing me on news printed in this paper.

"How does the RBI decide on Interest rates?" You will be able to answer if you have read "ET in classroom, simplified economics for you".........

Nice article but you when criticizing such a popular newspaper like ET you should have stronger points, put aside your personal perceptions. May be should first think why ET is so popular, was it due to monopoly or was it really worth? Something is missing in your article. Atleast I am not convinced that ET is useless. I read it and it has decent info, but I would say it is far far from 'The Economist'.
What do you mean by strong dear? Yeah may be I am prejudiced but I think half the financial world reads ET for the photos they print! Decent info, please pardon me.
